Small and medium businesses make critical decisions every day — when to open, what to stock, how to price, where to expand — almost entirely on gut feeling. Not because they don't want data. Because the data has never been built for them.
Global platforms like Google Trends operate at national or regional scale. Nielsen and similar market research firms serve enterprise clients at costs that start in the tens of thousands of dollars. Local governments publish demographic data years after it was collected. The result is a structural information gap: large businesses optimize with data while small businesses guess.
LocalLens closes that gap.
The platform aggregates and processes multiple real-world data signals — foot traffic patterns, search interest by neighborhood, competitor density, peak hours by business category, seasonal demand shifts, and local event calendars — and surfaces them as simple, actionable insights through a dashboard built specifically for non-technical business owners.
A warung owner in Makassar can see that foot traffic on their street peaks between 11am and 1pm and drops sharply after 7pm, that three similar businesses within 500 meters close on Sundays creating an opportunity window, and that searches for "es kopi susu" in their kelurahan have increased 40% over the past 30 days. No data science degree required. No enterprise contract. No waiting for a consultant's report.
We are currently in active validation with twelve UMKM owners across two cities in Sulawesi, conducting structured interviews to map their decision-making process and identify which data signals they find most actionable. Early findings confirm three consistent pain points: unpredictable slow days that waste inventory, lack of awareness about nearby competitor activity, and no visibility into whether a potential second location would be viable.
Our data strategy is built for defensibility. We integrate publicly available sources — OpenStreetMap, government demographic datasets, Google Places API — with proprietary signals generated from our own user base. As more businesses join the platform, aggregated anonymized activity data creates a compounding intelligence layer that no new entrant can replicate without the same user base. This is our moat.
The business model is designed for the market it serves. A free tier gives any UMKM access to basic neighborhood snapshots — enough to deliver immediate value and build trust. A paid tier at Rp 99.000 per month unlocks real-time alerts, competitor tracking, demand forecasting, and exportable reports. An enterprise tier serves franchise operators, property developers, and local government economic development agencies who need multi-location or district-level intelligence at scale.
We are in active conversations with one regional government agency interested in using aggregated LocalLens data to inform small business support programs and commercial zoning decisions — a partnership that validates both our data quality and our public sector revenue opportunity.
LocalLens is built for Southeast Asia first, where 97% of businesses are MSMEs, smartphone penetration is high, and local market intelligence infrastructure is nearly nonexistent. Indonesia is our launch market, with expansion pathways to the Philippines, Vietnam, and Thailand in subsequent phases.
We are looking for collaborators who understand that the next wave of business intelligence is not about bigger dashboards for bigger companies — it is about giving the person running a single store the same quality of insight that a retail chain takes for granted.

LocalLens addresses a significant, underserved market by providing actionable local business intelligence to SMEs, a segment traditionally excluded from such data. Its tiered pricing model and defensible data strategy, particularly in Southeast Asia, suggest strong potential for adoption and growth. The concept is highly unique in its specific application and target market, offering a substantial improvement over existing, inaccessible solutions.
