PawSOS Relay is an offline-first emergency rescue network for animals affected by floods, fires, road accidents, abuse and other crises.
THE PROBLEM
Animals in danger are often reported through scattered social media posts. These reports may be incomplete, duplicated or noticed too late. In rural and disaster-affected areas, weak internet connectivity makes it even harder to contact rescuers quickly.
THE SOLUTION
PawSOS Relay allows people to report an animal emergency through a missed call, SMS, voice note, photo or lightweight online form. The platform converts the information into a structured and verified rescue case.
It then connects the case with the nearest available animal rescuer, veterinarian, shelter, foster volunteer or rescue-boat operator.
HOW IT WORKS
- A witness reports an animal in danger.
- The location and urgency are verified.
- Nearby responders receive an alert.
- One responder accepts the rescue case.
- The case is tracked until the animal is rescued, treated and safe.
WHY IT MATTERS
PawSOS Relay is designed to work in areas with weak internet. It can reduce rescue response time, prevent duplicate rescue trips and help communities coordinate animal rescues during disasters.
The first pilot will focus on a flood-prone community and connect local volunteers, veterinarians, shelters and boat operators.
We are looking for developers, designers, veterinarians and animal-rescue professionals to help build and test the first working version.
