Every year, over 120 million tons of textile waste pile up. Most ends up in landfills. Less than one percent becomes new fabric.

People are not careless. They are confused. Underwear, torn towels, worn-out sheets. Charity shops do not want them. Recycling bins reject them. Even though 95 percent of textiles can be recycled, people have nowhere to put them except the trash. The average person throws away 35 clothing items every year. The system is broken.

The Solution: The ReThread App

Step 1: Scan
Open the app. Scan the item. The app tells you if it can be recycled.

Step 2: Drop
The app shows a map of nearby collection points. You drop your bag.

Step 3: Earn
You earn points for every drop. Discounts at local stores or donate to a cause.

Step 4: Track
Your bag gets tagged. Workers sort everything. Good clothes get sold again. Worn fabric becomes industrial rags, furniture stuffing, or insulation. Scraps go to local artisans who make bags and home decor. The app shows you the journey. Your towel becomes insulation. Your jeans become a bag. You see the impact.

The Movement

Residents download the app, find a bin, and drop off clothes. It becomes a habit.

Schools run collection drives. Neighborhoods compete. Kids learn that old clothes become new things.

Local shops become drop-off points. Laundromats, convenience stores, and shops. Collection points become as normal as the paper recycling bin.

Artisans and women's groups get materials. They make bags and home goods. They earn income.

Your Old Underwear Becomes Insulation. Your Torn Jeans Become a Bag. Nothing Goes to Landfill.

Drop off your clothes. Earn rewards. See the impact. The confusion ends. The planet wins.

The ReThread App addresses a significant environmental problem by simplifying textile recycling for consumers. While aspects of textile collection and recycling exist, this app uniquely integrates scanning, drop-off, rewards, and impact tracking into a user-friendly system. Its success hinges on establishing a robust network of collection points and processing facilities, which presents a considerable logistical challenge.
