Millions of people have valuable skills but no money to pay for learning. Traditional ed-tech platforms like Coursera or Udemy assume you have a credit card and reliable internet. They ignore the retired nurse who could teach first aid, the carpenter who could teach woodworking, or the college dropout who could teach Excel — all living within walking distance of people who desperately need those skills.

SkillBridge Local addresses a significant gap in skill acquisition for underserved communities by leveraging existing local talent through a barter system. While the concept of skill exchange isn't new, its hyperlocal focus and direct targeting of those without traditional payment methods offer a compelling solution. The primary challenge will be in effective community engagement, trust-building, and logistical support to facilitate these exchanges at scale.
